Contributor Content Manager

Shutterstock is looking for a skilled content marketing manager to engage with and improve the success of the contributor networks on Shutterstock. You will work closely with the marketing, creative, social media and product teams to strategize marketing campaigns, analyze performance, and write compelling communications while setting a tone that’s clear, engaging, and creativity-focused.

Shutterstock is focused on improving and enhancing the experience of our contributors around the world and helping them market themselves better. We are creating content that highlights creative artists (our contributors) that include photographers, videographers, illustrators, and composers and propel their success on Shutterstock and beyond. Outlining unique value props of our network and leveraging our artists stories to speak to our customers in unique ways.


We are seeking a Content Manager to assist in refining the content marketing strategy across our various offerings, while managing our creative writing freelancers and supporting them in creating and developing creative content, while overseeing communications, and campaign performance analysis.


Your expertise in communicating with creative individuals will have an effect across the world, and you’ll be supporting initiatives that grow the success of our contributor community and our business. 


Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to leverage content to engage and educate our contributors and customers.
  • Collaborate with creative, product, media, marketing, and CRM departments to strategize and support with campaign content creation.
  • Manage the contributor arm of the blog content strategy and content calendar.
  • Manage a group of freelance writers on pitches, assignments, payments and deliverables, as well as associated budget and procurement of new freelance talent.
  • Facilitate SEO research and keywording for to be published content.
  • Create and write content for the blog, website, email campaigns, brand campaigns, contributor development programs, and product announcements.
  • Support the social media team in marketing blog content effectively.


Qualifications:

  • Direct experience in developing, writing and implementing marketing initiatives including blog content, marketing and content campaigns, and email strategies.
  • A consistent record of maintaining data collection through a defined content strategy.
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple moving projects at a time.
  • Exceptional writing and time management skills. 
  • A degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in strategy and content development. 
  • Must be able to provide 3+ examples of written work
  • Ability to work efficiently in both independent and team environments
  • Candidates must be comfortable working with team members in global time zones.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an eagerness to pitch ideas with minimal direction in a results-driven environment.
  • Strong work ethic paired with intellectual and creative curiosity.
  • While this role is focused on creative content, experience and knowledge of marketing and communications is an asset.
  • Photography background and/or interest in creative visual arts.
  • Knowledge of content marketing landscape and emerging trends.
  • Experience with Wordpress, Trello, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and/or Lightroom.
