The Position

The Contracts, Negotiations & Compliance (CNC) team focuses on delivering contracting support, solutions, and efficiencies to internal business customers across Roche. The team uses specialized and in-depth knowledge of contracting-related topics and Roche overall to offer and deliver solutions that handle business, legal, and compliance risks. 

The Opportunity:

Your role will involve applying your contract drafting and negotiation skills, as well as your understanding of laws, policies, and regulations, to lead all aspects of procurement contract management and advisory activities. Your expertise in contracting and procurement will be essential in ensuring the delivery of effective and efficient services handling business, legal, and compliance risks for internal customers. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge in different contracting areas over time.

In your position, you will collaborate closely with procurement and business collaborators, providing them with the vital tools, templates, playbooks, advice, and assistance for efficient and compliant contracting.

This partnership will involve sophisticated drafting and negotiating, enabling you to support their contracting needs successfully. Furthermore, you will collaborate alongside other team members, including the contracting enablement capability teams, to collect feedback, meet reporting requirements, and continuously improve and implement services, processes, and service levels.

  • As a Contracts Manager, you will apply your expertise and knowledge in contracting, to provide specialized input, advice, assistance, and know-how in complex scientific, commercial, and/or technical contract drafting and negotiation activities.
  • You will act as a contract drafter and negotiator, using your functional, technical, and/or operational expertise. Collaborating with Procurement Delivery professionals, you will draft and negotiate intricate scientific, commercial, and/or technical contracts that go beyond the scope of provided templates and playbooks, requiring specialized contracting knowledge.
  • You will play a crucial role as a developer and advocate of contracts "Best Practices." You will contribute to the development, improvement, and delivery of templates, playbooks, and training materials for procurement, the business, and other stakeholders, ensuring that they adhere to the highest standards in contracting.
  • You will work within the broader team and Global Procurement networks and squads to resolve other various roles needed to deliver project and foundational work. 

Who are you:

  • You hold a university degree, with a business or legal degree preferable. You also have 7+ years or fewer with or legal credentials (3+ years), of relevant procurement or contract management experience, ideally in a pharmaceutical contracting organization.
  • You have extensive knowledge and proficiency in tax, insurance, import/export, health & safety, and compliance matters, allowing for effective management and understanding of these complex areas within the role.
  • Strong ability to communicate and convey intricate capability information to others, or bring together and translate stakeholder requirements in situations that require alignment and consensus, even when dealing with moderate complexity.
  • Expertise in legal and compliance subjects, including extensive delegation of authority, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and providing mentorship and support in these areas.
  • Business level proficiency in English.


  • You have experience in leading contracts in procurement for Clinical Trials, efficiently supervising and handling contracts within the context of Clinical Trials, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
