Content Creator/Brand Journalist

Remote Sterling, VA

Raytheon is seeking a Content Creator/Brand Journalist to create compelling content which will contribute to the company’s external positioning and employee engagement through various mediums.


Responsibilities

  • Generate approximately 20 pieces of content a month for publication on external and internal channels.
  • Coordinate, research, write, edit and obtain approval for speeches, op-eds and other executive writing and presentation assignments on behalf of the senior leadership team.
  • Work with various internal teams to identify and develop relevant content for employee communications.
  • Collaborate with marketing and digital teams to provide content
  • Keep abreast of industry trends by consuming cybersecurity and national security/Intelligence Community media content.
  • Hold creative discussions with the communications, business development, and business teams to develop content ideas based on news value and audience demand.
  • Conduct interviews with relevant sources to write clear, concise, and engaging content.
  • Collaborate with creative/graphics team to develop compelling, visually appealing content.
  • Ability to review and utilize audience analytics to inform content development.
  • Write authoritative, well-structured drafts for a range of work that includes thought leadership, technical expert pieces, internal web content and more using digital publishing platforms with minimal need for edits.
  • Interview leadership team members and industry professionals and incorporate their views into clear, concise and engaging content for news articles, bylines, op-eds, LinkedIn/blog posts, and feature stories.
  • Editing and proofreading your own and others' content for grammar, style, and accuracy.
  • Understand how to use digital metrics to gauge audience engagement and adjust future content accordingly.
  • Conduct keyword research and use SEO guidelines to optimize content.


Requirements and Skills

  • 8+ years of experience as a Content Creator, Copywriter or similar role
  • Excellent writing, fact checking, and editing skills.
  • Experience working in technical field and translating from jargon into plain English strongly desired.
  • Background understanding cybersecurity or national security environment a plus
  • Experience in writing in a variety of formats and styles to include long form, short form, feature, news, ad copy, speeches, and social media posts.
  • Portfolio of published content
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems
  • Knowledge of SEO process and principles
  • Experience working with digital photography, video production, and/or graphic design and layout are desirable.
  • Self-starter capable of independent work with excellent time management skills


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or another relevant field. Experience may also be substituted for a degree.

Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have broad knowledge of project management. Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.


Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience


Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.


The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD.


The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.


Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.


This role is a U.S.-based role.
