Communications Specialist

What will you be responsible for?

Focus will be executing Newmont’s communication strategy across the Company’s (Internal/External) channels. Will be capable of identifying stories within Newmont to be developed into relevant and engaging media content across multiple social media channels


(Newmont.com/Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter) or (Discovery/Yammer). The role will work directly with the Digital Communications Manager and coordinate closely with their Communications Specialist peer.

 

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • We are responsible for implementing Newmont’s global communications strategy to creative a distinctive user experience including contributing creative elements to Newmont’s line of online services, products and programs in collaboration with the Digital Communications Manager and Manager of External Communications and Brand Management.
  • We work closely with Strategic Communications colleagues as well as Newmont peers in the Regions to deliver content across Newmont’s communication channels.
  • We proactively identify moments for social media content to help elevate a company’s brand and employee engagement.
  • We write content for Newmont’s social media channels and Newmont.com as well as writing short-, medium- and long-form content for other outlets both internal and external.
  • We execute the day-to-day functions of Newmont’s (internal and external) communications.

Your training, skills and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!


Knowledge:

•   Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or other Communications subject area.

•   Post graduate communications or marketing work preferred.


Experience:

•   Min. 2 years of experience in corporate communications or marketing communications.

•   Experience contributing to or managing digital channels and digital communications.

•   Understanding of the importance of using data to turn insights into actions.

•   Solid understanding of digital trends, tools and data-centric marketing.


Skills and Abilities:

•   Strong verbal and written communication skills.

•   Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.

•   Excellent planning, organizing and project management skills.

•   Experience with graphic design software including Adobe Creative Suite, marketing automation platforms, website content management systems, SEO and SEM strategies, and social media monitoring tools.

•   Familiarity with AP Style preferred.

 

Working Conditions

Where you will be located!

•   The position is located in the Denver corporate office.

•   Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites. 

 

The salary range offered for this role is $75,680- 99,330. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.   


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
