Communications Specialist

Provides administrative support to the President and CEO in regard to internal company communications. Position is responsible for the creation and dissemination of internal and selected external communications as an extension of CEO communications.

Primary Functions:

  1. Provides a full range of communications support tasks as an extension of CEO communications.
  2. Create, copyedit, proofread, revise and dissemination of internal and selected external communications.
  3. Gather and research data from internal and external sources for the development of communications.
  4. Preparation of reports, power point presentations and other communication documents as directed.
  5. Partner with IT department for intranet implementation and maintain intranet content ongoing to ensure content is current and content is fresh.
  6. Arranges and attends meetings and takes minutes as requested.
  7. Handles special communications projects as requested.
  8. Works with other VNA staff as needed for obtaining, facilitating and dissemination of communications.
  9. Familiarizes and complies with all VNA policies and procedures.
  10. Meets standards of behavior expectations.
  11. Follows established guidelines for use and/or disclosure of protected health information. Employees should report any breaches of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules to the Privacy Officer immediately. Failure to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  12. Other duties as assigned.


  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications preferred.
  2. GED or HS Diploma in conjunction with applicable experience required.
  3. Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  4. Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively verbally and in writing with all staff and community contacts.
  5. Minimum of 2 years work experience in a communications specialist role.
