Job Purpose and Impact

The Communications Manager will lead the implementation of the communication strategy for the USAID-funded TRANSFORM program that advances market-driven animal health solutions to increase global health security and increase access to safe, affordable animal-sourced nutrition. In Kenya, India, Indonesia and Vietnam, TRANSFORM increases the capacity of agribusiness, small- to large-scale farmers, and governments to advance animal health practices that mitigate antimicrobial resistance and prevent emerging zoonotic and transboundary animal diseases, while improving farmer livelihoods. In this role, you'll work closely with the TRANSFORM project team (based in the US, Asia and Africa), Cargill communications, consortium partners, and USAID to design and implement communications in support of the project goals and objectives.


Key Accountabilities

  • Implement and update the project’s communication strategy in alignment with project priorities, Cargill and USAID requirements
  • Advise leadership on effective communications with critical stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Drive collaboration between integrated teams from various communications practices to build and implement the strategy.
  • Provide project team with key messages for project objectives and activities
  • Design and coordinate communications campaigns, stakeholder events and other communications activities outlined in the strategy
  • You will work under minimal supervision and independently handle complex issues while referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint
  • Good understanding of communications channels and content development for those channels
  • Extensive experience with a variety of communications strategies for international development or donor funded projects


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with USAID or US government funded projects
  • Strong business acumen to advise leadership and effectively partner with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to translate technical messaging into easily understood language
  • Familiarity with food and nutrition and public health topics and issues
  • Experience working in or supporting communication activities or projects in Asia or Africa
  • Experience with global communications and coordination with remote or global teams
