Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United’s global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United’s customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you.


Key Responsibilities:

The Manager – NOC Bridge Communication is a high-level communications and operational expert, positioned on the NOC bridge. The NOC Bridge is a 24/7 operation, which requires constant communication and updates to all groups across the airline, in and out of the NOC, customers, government stakeholders and media. These updates are often critical and time-sensitive updates which require immediate action, but are often delayed due to extreme workload and prioritization. This role will serve as the “Voice of the NOC”, reporting to the Network Directors on shift. Currently, the entire bridge communication product is handled by the Network Director. This role will serve as the communication arm of the NOC bridge.

  • Monitor, coordinate and communicate operational activity and decisions, as advised by the Network Director. Events can range from individual flight events to broad system impacts and alerts
  • Join both scheduled and unscheduled operational planning calls to recap and communicate plans to the broad relevant operational groups
  • Establish communication protocols for various operational events to ensure standardization in content, structure and timing
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Network Directors or NOC leadership

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years in an airline or airport leadership environment
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of airline operations.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across a broad range of support teams
  • Ability to work under high-stress, complex and changing operational environment
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and quickly translate operational events into targeted communications
  • Critical thinking and the ability to quickly evaluate and translate operational situations and provide communication updates on-demand
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Must be able to work all shifts and holidays as required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Aviation, Business, communications, journalism
  • 5+ years in an airline or leadership environment
  • 2+ years’ experience in a communication-based role
  • FAA Airman Certificate
  • Ability to develop new communication path
  • Experience in continuous improvement, and developing communication paths and standards for the NOC
  • General curiosity in airline operations and willingness to develop new skills and knowledge
  • Ability to read and understand airline performance metrics across all operational groups. communication
