Communications Manager

As a Communications Manager, Consumer, you’ll work closely with the Head of Consumer and Product Communications to develop and execute consumer-centric strategies across the breadth of Pinterest’s core verticals (beauty, fashion, home, food) as well as help launch announcements that bolster our key Pinterest narratives. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and product and be our voice with consumer press, responsible for creating and maintaining strong media relationships and garnering favorable media coverage for our initiatives. You’ll help manage our consumer PR agency and will spend time ideating consumer-facing ideas and strategies that you then own, manage, execute and measure their success.


What you’ll do:

  • Draft key messages for events, programs and pitches
  • Improve the strategy of projects they work on to generate media results
  • Pitch media and creates/maintains relationships with journalists
  • Help manage the PR agency and inbound consumer press requests
  • Help manage and prep company spokespeople
  • Develop and execute consumer press strategies
  • Proactive work with cross-functional teams to identify Pinner story opportunities
  • Work with agency to manage monthly / quarterly / EOY metrics reports, and amplify the wins and the learnings with cross-functional stakeholders 
  • Support cross-functional executives on owned media moments and projects
  • Develop content for executive social media amplification 
  • Maintain consumer editorial calendar with agency to ensure we stay on top of seasonal and pop culture trends
  • Analyze industry news and data for relevant insights and trends and translate into ideas, campaigns and pitches


What we’re looking for:

  • 6+ years experience in PR / communications with a specific acumen in consumer / lifestyle communications
  • Preferred agency and in-house experience
  • Established consumer media relationships in a variety of consumer categories (beauty, fashion, home, wellness, food, lifestyle)
  • Experience working with creators, celebrities and influencers 
  • Experience working with executives on media campaigns, key messages, media prep and creating content for executive social amplification
  • Strong project management skills and the proven ability to balance multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen interest in pop culture news and events along with experience newsjacking moments and securing coverage with press
  • Experience creating experiential experiences, including events, webinars, creative mailers, etc.
  • Experience working on integrated communication programs, utilizing Paid, Earned, Shared and Owned media strategies 
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • A self-motivated, high energy, collaborative team player
