Communications Manager

We are actively seeking a Communications Manager to join our team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). This manager will join a dynamic, fast-paced team responsible for a myriad of global initiatives that positively impact and bolster the reputation of Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Experiences (DX).


We are looking for a strategic problem solver with excellent long-term planning, writing, and editing skills who have experience working with media outlets and can identify potential issues while handling high-profile projects. In this role, you will own the external editorial strategy for Imagineering and work with partners to develop integrated strategic plans related to multi-site global capital projects and Disney franchises.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include:

  • Crafting and implementing a global editorial strategy for Walt Disney Imagineering that aligns with strategic objectives
  • Handling media stories related to Walt Disney Imagineering, technology and innovation, Disney franchises, and multi-site projects
  • Leading strategic planning for assigned capital projects and industry organizations and working alongside Imagineering partners and project teams
  • Proactively identifying milestones and news beats throughout the project life cycle, from concept to construction and through launch
  • Constructing and implementing communication plans, leading all aspects of media production, asset creation, and message development, preparing spokespeople for interviews, and providing event support
  • Developing story ideas, messaging, and creative content for multiple platforms including blog posts, websites, and social channels
  • Maintaining owned channels/platforms to ensure alignment with ongoing business priorities
  • Assisting in the creation of decks/presentations for executive leadership on priorities and campaigns
  • Encouraging and maintaining effective relationships with collaborators, industry partners, and media outlets


Required Qualifications & Skills

You will bring:

  • 5+ years of communications experience working with global brands
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Proficiency with Associated Press writing style
  • Experience identifying emerging issues and developing strategies to mitigate
  • An understanding of the media landscape
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of social media platforms
  • Ability to interpret and transmit complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with discretion and maintaining highly confidential information
  • Strong project management skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Disney operational knowledge or experience
  • An interest in tech and innovation
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed


Education

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $106,700.00-$143,100.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
