Communications Director

Remote (United States)

Samsara is looking for a CEO Communications Lead to join our Communications team, to build and coordinate internal and external communications programs for our CEO, Sanjit Biswas. In this role, you will shape our CEO’s platform spanning the company and platform vision, business strategy, and thought leadership. You will serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner.  


This role reports to the Vice President of Communications. The right candidate will be comfortable operating in a role with multiple stakeholders. You will work directly with the CEO and senior leaders on communications strategies, while partnering closely with the broader communications team to identify engagement opportunities that will drive business impact, align with company priorities, and positively position Samsara.


You have a gift for storytelling and are masterful at selecting the most impactful channels to convey a message. You are passionate about B2B technology, understand cloud-based platforms and our customer base, and are skilled at tailoring messages for both internal and external audiences. You excel in writing and editing for someone else’s unique voice, and are excited about making an impact on one of the world’s fastest-growing companies.


In this role, you will: 
  • Partner with the CEO and key stakeholders to build and maintain a strategic CEO communications program, including core narrative and messaging, channels, and key talk tracks. Key stakeholders include Executive Staff, Communications, Marketing, Investor Relations and Product teams.
  • Research topics to find the most impactful stories for our CEO to tell.
  • Attend CEO and leadership meetings to proactively identify topics that should be communicated. 
  • Own CEO content development, creative storytelling, and messaging for a variety of audiences including employees, customers, prospects, partners, investors and media. Sample tasks include creating: 
  • Storylines and scripts for speeches
  • Social media content 
  • Talking points and presentations
  • Event and meeting briefing documents
  • Internal posts and messages, including CEO portion of Town Halls 
  • Review and evaluate CEO communications requests. Manage deliverables end-to-end with key stakeholders and project teams. 
  • Develop strategic communication plans with the broader communications team and other internal stakeholders, and execute on them.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices. 


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in communications, with at least 3 years in C-level executive communications.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to advise and persuade on communications strategy to all levels. 
  • Strong business acumen, editing and writing skills.
  • Ability to drive consensus and support change management in a complex, fast changing organizations.
  • Strong organization and project management skill.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
