CEO Communications Lead

Palo Alto, CA

The CEO Communications Lead will have primary responsibility for developing and/or supporting the development of materials that are aligned with the CEO’s strategic communications agenda. This role will ensure that the CEO’s messaging is clear, concise, and representative of broader business priorities and objectives.


Reporting to the Head of CEO Communications, the role will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across the company to build relationships, source content, and advance the CEOs communications platform across internal and external audiences. The CEO Communications Lead will serve as an advisor to the Executive Office team, providing strategic counsel related to communications opportunities for events, engagements, memberships, media interviews, and thought leadership opportunities.


The role is ideal for an exceptionally strong writer who has a passion for creating compelling, concise content, and who is experienced in supporting the communications of executive leaders. We are looking for someone who skillfully manages competing priorities, is a quick and creative thinker, excels at building relationships, is process oriented, and brings rigorous attention to detail and a sense of urgency to everything they do. The role will work collaboratively with a variety of teams across the company, including Events, Studio Production, Business Units and Markets, and Corporate Functions.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation of executive materials for internal employee meetings, town halls, and recognition events, including liaising with stakeholders, suggesting strategic approach, and creating background, briefing, and event materials in multiple formats.
  • Create executive briefing materials with messaging that clearly articulates HP’s priorities, business objectives, commitments, and public positions for events with media and/or other external stakeholders.
  • Understand the communications needs of various audiences, and regularly update and evolve materials to reflect changes to HP’s business priorities, the sector landscape, and the external environment.
  • Identify and support executive engagement opportunities with target audiences, including top-tier media outlets, opinion leaders, subject matter experts, business organizations, and nonprofits and non-governmental organizations.
  • Establish processes and service level agreements to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Serve as a resource across the Corporate Communications team to ensure message alignment and consistency across various work streams.
  • Work closely with the Executive Office team to ensure alignment with the CEO’s calendar of upcoming events.
  • Manage and engage with communications agencies and contractors on a variety of projects and initiatives.


Education and Experience Required:

  • BA or BS in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Business Administration.
  • 7+ years of experience in communications.
  • Experience leading or supporting communications for a senior-level leader or C-Suite executive preferred.
  • Technology industry experience preferred, but not required.
  • Spanish fluency a plus, but not required


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extremely effective communicator with superior verbal, written, and editing skills – very minimal peer or manager edits needed.
  • Highly organized with rigorous attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Problem-solver who establishes policies and identifies and implements process improvements.
  • Skilled relationship builder who develops strong partnerships across cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Creative thinker who’s not afraid to try new things and suggest new ideas.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment while calmly – and quickly – adapting to change.
  • Expert at collaborating with/managing public relations agencies and vendors.
