Business Analyst

Nashville, TN

Sony Music Publishing (SMP) is seeking a Technical BA, to join the Global Information Technology Department in Nashville, TN. The Technical BA is responsible for partnering with Product Team(s) to document, resource, drive and deliver value add technology solutions to SMP Products.


What You’ll Do: 

  • Identify specific business opportunities​
  • Influence stakeholders to support business projects​
  • Assist with project owner/management for selected projects​
  • Coordinate with different departmental teams to produce better business outcomes​
  • Test business processes and recommend improvements​
  • Convert roadmap features into smaller user stories​
  • Write clear and well-structured business requirements/documents​
  • Identify automation opportunities​
  • Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to understand business performance​
  • Analyze process issues and bottlenecks and to make improvements​
  • Communicate and validate requirements with relevant stakeholders​
  • Develop and maintain project reporting tools (Jira)​
  • Perform data discovery, analysis and modeling​
  • Collaborate with IT Lead on roadmap planning and prioritization​
  • Support the vision of the IT team, assist with product requirements, and translate requirements into user stories​
  • Closely communicate with internal/external teams to understand overall status and key milestones​
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with Project team including stakeholders to communicate status, risk/issue mitigation​
  • Test business processes and recommend improvements​
  • Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to understand Project performance​
  • Provide support to internal/external teams for any data requirements or reports​
  • Partner with the Scrum Master/Cloud team/Business/any other team as needed to resolve issues throughout the sprint​
  • Work with Stakeholders, Developers, and Scrum Master on Sprint planning​
  • Understanding of servant leadership and practical application​
  • Manage scope control by collaborating with project team​


Who You Are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer, business, or music related field
  • 3+ years as a Business Analyst
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog refinement
  • Experience with Project documentation like Requirements, conceptual and detail designs
  • Experience with wireframes/mockups
  • Experience working with AWS Cloud enterprise applications
  • 3+ years’ experience with Jira/Confluence, Excel
  • Knowledge of basic SQL to run adhoc analysis
  • Knowledge of Agile software development life cycles
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration
  • Working with Global teams across different time zones
  • Proven track record to follow through and project completion/closure
  • Some Travel Required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • 7.5-hour business workday but variations in work volume frequently require extended working hours for evening and late-night events
