Biotech Sustainability Intern
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Shapes the PH Biotech sustainability program and commitments into a North American specific strategy including implementation tactics;
- Shares guidance and support for implementation and execution of sustainability initiatives including goals/metrics and data including proposals to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, reduction of pollution, recycling, building and facility design, and general education on sustainability;
- Collaborates and facilitates open dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and stakeholders to build partnerships and communities for environmental and sustainability. Identifies and facilitates training as needed;
- Maintains current working knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, all applicable local, provincial, federal, and internal environmental laws and regulations;
- Attends and participates internal sustainability focus steering committees;
- Gathers data and reports Biotech progress with external benchmarks and internal goals and milestones;
- Tracks strategies to maintain and continuously improve system performance for efficient and sustainable operation to support reduction of carbon footprint, greenhouse gas emissions, waste reduction, and water management;
- Assists with developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and benchmark technology against major competitors and comparable industry.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year bachelor undergraduate or graduate Engineering (Sustainability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy, Science, or related fields) program;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to deal professionally with internal customers of various organizational levels;
- Ability to work effectively within a departmental team and with members of the same or higher organizational levels;
- Good organization, documentation, prioritization and scheduling skills together with an overall desire to learn;
- Basic problem solving and project management abilities together with a professional image;
- Ability to work independently and multi-task;
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office with beginner level proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Demonstrated potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with others and independent thought.
