Audience Development & Social Media Strategist

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Audience Development & Social Strategy, the Audience Development & Social Media Strategist, will be responsible for playing a key role in the development of compelling compilations, playlists, and video series to bring the Storyful brand to life across Storyful owned channels.


Always thinking about new and creative ways to improve video and visual storytelling to drive audience engagement, you will collaborate with stakeholders from across the company to create social-first content.


You will proactively enhance relationships with platforms, content creators, communities, and other partners that can help us identify creative opportunities that push our brand in new, exciting directions. This person should have proven experience creating and leveraging original content to drive authentic social engagement across multiple digital channels.


Understanding that different audiences on different platforms will require different approaches, you will experiment to identify the most effective formats and engaging approaches for various channels.


This position will be based in New York City and in office on a hybrid schedule .


What you will do:

  • Oversee and maintain posting of video content to our audience-focused engagement strategy across Storyful’s social brands
  • Identify new content opportunities, based on relevant cultural or audience insights, current events, and social trends
  • Create innovative captions, headlines, social copy, and thumbnail images to create engaging content for our Storyful owned channels and identify new channels that will help us expand our reach and build meaningful relationships with our audiences
  • Work closely with the production desk and other members of the Platforms team in order to align on and execute against a clear production roadmap
  • Work with the Platforms team and and other stakeholders to ensure that all social content is delivered and posted on schedule
  • Assist with the day-to-day curation and management of user-generated content, organizing it for creative use across social channels, and repackaging it for distribution
  • Generate content on Adobe to help with content ideas inspired by audience insights gleaned from community chatter, mentions, and trends.
  • Proactively engage with audiences within comments on various social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Keep a pulse on trending/viral topics across digital platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, TikTok Snapchat, Twitch, and Instagram


What we’re looking for:

  • 1-3 years of marketing, communications, and/or content creation experience with a substantial social media focus
  • A skilled writer, and gifted storyteller who understands the power of social content
  • Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with a bias toward action and the ability to take ownership
  • A strong communicator and cross-functional collaborator
  • Ability to think analytically to derive data-driven insights
  • A platform expert who understands the social media landscape as a whole, each platforms various nuances, and the latest in social trends
  • Fluent with social media platforms, scheduling tools, and digital media analytics tools
  • Strong organization, time and project management skills
