Associate Marketing Manager

Richfield, MN

The Associate Manager, Media Strategy will support the strategic planning and implementation of assigned paid media plans. This role works cross functionally with internal marketing teams to understand business and marketing goals, and assists in the creation and execution of paid media plans (traditional and digital, with a strong emphasis on digital media). In addition, this role is will be responsible for supporting portfolio level reporting, analyzing data and maintaining a deep understanding of media success drivers across individual campaigns as well as enterprise level media performance The associate manager will also assist in the day-to-day management of the media agency, as well as manage media budgets for area of responsibility and provide operational support for the team. 


S/he will have experience managing multi-million dollar ad budgets, be results-driven and solution-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a proven track record of working closely with internal business teams in a highly collaborative, cross-functional and fast-paced environment to ensure campaigns are aligned with enterprise drive times and business objectives.


Due to the highly dynamic nature of the retail consumer electronics industry, s/he will also need to thrive in a very fast-paced culture, embrace learning from challenges and change, and be able to be flexible in situations not always process-driven.


This role reports into a Senior Manager, and does not have direct reports.


Core Job Responsibilities

  1. Support development of data driven paid media recommendations that support key business and marketing goals and objectives
  2. Assist in analyzing date and drawing insights on media performance in support of portfolio level reporting
  3. Oversee the entire media planning process for assigned campaigns from strategy through implementation for working with brand/ category marketing and other internal business teams; direct media agency on creation and execution for assigned media plans
  4. Provide direction and guidance on assigned media plans as the day to day contact for the media agency
  5. Contribute to ongoing paid media team thought leadership and education to marketing partners
  6. Assist external and internal partners in drawing insights on media performance; utilize industry trends, business environment and media results (including insights from media mix optimization and attribution tools) to improve future strategies and plan recommendations
  7. Ensure media budgets are maintained by working closely with brand/ category marketing and finance partners
  8. Develop strong relationships and collaborate with media agency, brand/ category marketing and cross functional marketing partners (i.e. media sales and account management, creative, finance, research, etc.)


Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ Years progressive media planning experience in advertising agency or client setting
  • 3+ Years digital planning and/or buying experience; familiarity with display, digital video, mobile/ tablet, paid social and retargeting
  • 2+ Years people or resource leadership experience (direct or indirect)
  • A team-player who is a self-starter, curious and eager to learn, demonstrating openness to feedback and coaching, and well organized
  • High attention to detail, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to execute projects end-to-end, on time and within budget, under general direction in a highly dynamic, collaborative and matrixed environment
  • Strong presentation skills to garner support from marketing teams/ leadership and persuade them on media recommendations
  • Curious and eagerness to learn to stay current on industry trends and tools, and about new trends and new business opportunities


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing omni-channel paid media programs for a national, retail brand
  • Experience managing million-dollar budgets
  • Advanced PC Skills to include all Microsoft Office Products including both PowerPoint and Excel
