Associate Manager, Brand Communications

The Associate manager of Brand Communications exhibits a solid working knowledge of social media strategy, content planning and publishing, organic social media amplification, and measuring the success of our efforts. The Associate manager will work collaboratively with the Manager and Director of Brand Communications to develop a strategic approach to organic social media content planning and publishing and help manage the day-to-day activities of two business units of Newell Brands’ globally recognized brands. 


This Associate manager of Brand Communications will be responsible for developing a social media content briefing and planning process and refining ways of working with our internal creative team and agencies of record. The Associate manager will help develop an approach to managing, engaging, listening, amplifying and measuring the success of our social media efforts on behalf of our brands and a process and ways of working to support our organic social media efforts with paid amplification in partnership with our, marketing, eMarketing and agency partners. In collaboration with our agency partners and other team members, the Associate manager will help set the strategic approach and develop a playbook for social media engagement as well as content planning, publishing and amplification for each of our top Newell Brands.


The Associate manager will also help our organization and agency partners effectively measure and analyze the results of our social media efforts based on the current industry best practices on key performance indicators.


The Associate manager will collaborate with the marketing organization and agencies of record and contribute to building and executing high-impact integrated campaigns that will engage with consumers and influencers online and generate media coverage. The Associate manager of brand communications will be a business partner to brand development, brand activation, CMI, eMarketing, DTC, legal and our agency partners. 


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Manager and Director of Brand Communications to develop a strategic approach to organic social media content planning and publishing and manage the day-to-day activities of two business units of Newell Brands’ globally recognized brands
  • Leverage existing assets and create new assets and copy writing to develop organic content calendars across Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Tik Tok for brand-owned channels 
  • Develop a social media content briefing and planning process and refining ways of working with our internal creative team and agencies of record 
  • Help develop an approach to managing, engaging, listening, amplifying and measuring the success of our social media efforts on behalf of our brands and a process and ways of working to support our organic social media efforts with paid amplification in partnership with our, marketing, eMarketing and agency partners
  • Help set the strategic approach and develop a playbook for social media engagement as well as content planning, publishing and amplification for each of our top Newell Brands
  • Help our organization and agency partners effectively measure and analyze the results of our social media efforts based on the current industry best practices on key performance indicators
  • Collaborate with the marketing organization and agencies of record and contribute to building and executing high-impact integrated campaigns that will engage with consumers and influencers online and generate media coverage
  • Be a business partner to brand management, brand activation, digital marketing, CMI, eMarketing, eCommerce, legal, consumer care, corporate communications and our agency partners


Qualifications: 

  • 4-year college degree, preferably in PR, Communications, Social Media, Marketing or related field 
  • 3-6 years of public relations/social media experience 


Required Skills/Competencies: 

  • CREATIVITY! is a must and graphic design/communications skills are beneficial
  • Time management skills as well as the ability to work within a team environment 
  • Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment and manage an agency
  • Experience promoting both consumable and durable products to consumers 
  • Keen sense of consumer trends 
  • Professional presence with exceptional verbal and written communications skills 
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, interacting with all levels of marketing and business functions globally 
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities and challenges 


Other requirements:

•   Minimal travel may be required
