The Associate General Counsel plays a key role within Optum Corporate and will be supporting our Optum Virtual Care and Urgent Care business lines. Optum is a fast-paced, high growth, exciting organization. This is a key position that supports a burgeoning business, its strategic initiatives, and provides legal advice and insight to business leaders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides general legal business guidance and legal support to Optum Virtual Care and Urgent Care business lines
  • Drafts and negotiates contracts
  • Performs regulatory research and analysis on a variety of healthcare and related regulatory topics
  • Expected to grow with acquisitions and business growth objectives

Required Qualifications:        

  • Juris Doctorate degree
  • 2+ years of professional legal experience either in a law firm or corporate environment
  • Health Care Regulatory experience 
  • Experience evaluating and determining appropriate legal course of action to meet business or product needs

 

Preferred Qualifications:        

  • Telehealth and/or Urgent Care experience 
  • Background in a wide variety of regulatory matters impacting health care providers
  • Background in state and/or federal privacy issues/matters impacting the health care industry
  • Understanding of business considerations related to topics specified above
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven culture
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships across a highly matrixed enterprise
  • Leadership, initiative, resilience, and ability to embrace change
  • Clear and concise communications skills
