General Summary:

Creates and supports the creation of product designs based on concepts established by product development and merchandising groups. Works under close supervision.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (approximate percentage of time spent):

Monitors, researches and reports on industry trends for applications to new and existing product designs. (20%) Creates design sketches for new products and enhancements to existing products. (40%) Develops, updates and stores technical specifications and other information (e.g., fabric, product illustrations, design layouts, design development, etc.) on new and existing products. (10%) Plans and communicates product design features, goals, objectives and technical specifications to product development staff and others, and confers with staff to resolve problems. (10%) Prepares materials for meetings (e.g., presentations, product line sheets, technical specifications, garment samples, and print, fabric, sketch and research boards, etc.), arranges meetings and meeting rooms, and takes notes during meetings. (20%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in apparel design or related discipline and 1 year of experience in apparel or product design or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training. Knowledge of Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, computer aided design (CAD) software and/or computer tracking systems, such as product life management (PLM). Keen eye for color, trend, detail and construction. Able to multi-task and prioritize based on business objectives.
