Animation Production Planning Manager

The Planning Manager will be responsible for navigating and coordinating upstream partner production across content pipelines for the Animation Production department to effectively distribute content. This role is the production contact with mainly international and some domestic partners. Business level, native Japanese fluency with keen business acumen is required.


Responsibilities include managing timelines, consolidating production and distribution information, communicating asset status and requirements, and distributing information across partners and stakeholders to achieve efficiencies. Other aspects of this role are generating workflows, documents, and schedules to execute production and distribution demands.


What You’ll Do:

  1. Manage and coordinate with our partners to meet upstream production requirements
  2. Guide and support partners and studios to maintain timelines and deliver production assets and source material
  3. Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate challenges during upstream production to prepare and align stakeholders
  4. Liaison between Japanese/domestic partners/studios and our operations to create efficiencies, strategize, minimize delays, and ensure executional alignment
  5. Attend and lead meetings with international/domestic content partners and studios to define priorities and achieve production objectives
  6. Collaborate with Content, Brand, and other internal teams from inception to content distribution; home video (DVD, Blu-ray), simulcast (“day-and-date” release), TV/linear broadcast, and digital (TVOD, AVOD, SVOD)
  7. Develop multi-language (Japanese and English) documentation and workflows


The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • 5+ years of global large-scale project management experience in Media & Entertainment
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in Media & Entertainment production/operations
  • Native or near-native business level Japanese fluency, including strong interpretation/translation skills from Japanese to English and English to Japanese (Required)
  • Strong business acumen and is an analytical and assertive problem-solver
  • Excellent communication and collaboration
  • Experience with post-production, localization, and content distribution (DVD, BD, TV/Broadcast, & TVOD/AVOD/SVOD)
  • Knowledge of content licensing and acquisitions contract terms and agreements
  • Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (i.e., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Wrike, Asana, or similar)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position


Work Location, Schedule, and Compensation:

  • Location: Open to candidates in California. There may be some required travel for this position.
  • Schedule: This is a Regular Full-Time position with flexibility in working hours outside of our core hours of 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Pacific time.
  • Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 base salary, with additional variable compensation
