The Divisional Accounting Manager will ensure the application of sound accounting principles for the Blackbird Division. They will be responsible for the financial functions including G/L, A/P, A/R, Billing, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and budget support. They will also serve as a consultant for managers within the organization, advising them of current budgetary information. They will work closely with the Controller on strategies and reporting.


Essential Functions

  • Oversee and manage the daily accounting functions of the Blackbird Division
  • Hands on accounting including processing transactions for the division
  • Ensure all accounting transactions are processed and posted per policies including A/R, A/P, Cash, Billing, Banking, Prepaids, Accruals, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate month-end close and producing financial statements
  • Keep reconciliations and schedules for all balance sheet accounts
  • Participate in year-end closing and year-end audit
  • Assist with creating budgets and working with managers in analyzing results
  • Organize financial data into useable information and maintain records. 
  • Ensures the timely payment of sales, excise, and other taxes.
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures, aligned with the company’s targets. 
  • Ensure compliance issues are met and financial information is recorded in accordance with GAAP

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • The Accounting Manager will directly manage and mentor employees of the accounting department and will be responsible for the performance management of those individuals. 


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent number of years of experience, plus five years of accounting experience. 
  • Experience with Software (SAAS) or like industry desired
  • QuickBooks and/or SAP Business One experience desired
  • Strong Excel skills required. 
  • Experience in a fast-paced, start-up-like environment is preferred.


Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others effectively. This position requires sitting/standing at a computer for very long periods. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. This job operates in an onsite company office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, mouse, and keyboard. This position is full-time and typical work hours occur Monday through Friday and between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm but may also occasionally occur outside of typical work hours including some evening work.
  • This is a hybrid position eligible for a blend of work from home and on-site work at our Goleta campus location.
