Accounting Intern

Join our Accounting team as an Intern where you will gain hands-on experience with various accounting tasks, including credit application management, invoice processing, month-end close, and compliance with our internal systems.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a professional setting, working alongside experienced accountants and contributing to the success of our organization.
This position is expected to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Spring 2025 term (estimated through April 2025). We ask for a minimum of 10 weeks, part-time and on-site, for internships.
In This Role
- Maintain and update resale certificate records to ensure accurate documentation using Avalara
- Support the processing and evaluation of credit applications for new customers, including verifying financial information as needed
- Respond to customer requests for documentation in a timely manner
- Assist with the processing of invoices, including verifying accuracy, matching purchase orders, and resolving any discrepancies
- Troubleshoot invoice-related issues and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve problems efficiently
- Ensure compliance with procurement system to maintain system data and accuracy
- Review expenses at a cost center level to verify accuracy and provide insights into trends
- Prepare reconciliations and submit for review utilizing Blackline
- Participate in month end close process, assisting with preparation of necessary reports, journal entries, and account reconciliations as needed
- Work with functional leaders and other internal groups to build scalable processes

The Ideal Person
- Currently pursuing an Accounting or Finance degree
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Attention to detail, thorough, and organized
- Good time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to collaborate within a team setting
- Able to take initiative and ownership of assigned work projects
